Totally out of date

This book was published in 2007 and the back cover says it is "up-to-date" but the material is very old. For example, the very first chapter talks about the M2 robot at the MIT Leglab "currently being developed" but the M2 web site has not been updated since 2001.

Chapter 3 discusses basic electronics but uses the 8051 as an example of a microcontroller. This chip must be at least 10 years old and is nowhere near state of the art. The chapter runs to almost 90 pages out of 340, more than a quarter of the book, and is more than the three chapters on kinematics combined (4, 5 and 7).

The figures do not have captions in most cases and are not referenced in the text. All the figures are supposed to be on the CD, but most of them are missing and many of the ones that are there do not appear in the book.

There are no citations at all, so it is very difficult to tell how current some of the references are.

The CD-ROM does not contain all of the items mentioned in the book, such as the Turtle program. An entire appendix is devoted to a listing of this program, which is dated 2004 in the text, and is written in Turbo C for DOS! In fact, there are several locations in the book where there is a CD-ROM icon, but no corresponding code on the CD.

The Matlab code on the CD ranges in age from 2003 to 2007. Other programs on the CD to demonstrate kinematics are DOS programs from 1996!

I cannot believe that anyone could publish such a poorly edited collection of outdated material. I bought this book based on two 5-star ratings. In my opinion it is only worth 1 star, and that is for the coverage of basic mechanics and kinematics which never go out of date.

I appreciate this book very much!!

I just bought this for my Kindle, and I have Eddie's first book, which I will re-read soon, as well. When the student is ready ... I felt that with all that I had why do I need something else. I have met the statements of many lottery jackpot winners, there are numerous stories where people prayed and won a lottery, of varying amounts, that literally saved them at the last minute from losing homes. Some stories go into a thought process, but most you simply glean. What is very common with many jackpot winners and others, is that they use quickpicks and they're not big lottery spenders -- it's affirmations, visualizations (together or not) with a lot of faith and trust.

This book has shown me, through these experiences, where I still need work in my overall transformation, and the amazing amount of what I am doing that is in line with manifesting great things that I desire and require, and that I totally deserve. I really appreciated the second story, because this is someone who manifested good while the outer appearance and circumstances was definitely difficult. Walking "by faith and not by sight" is, I feel, the most difficult part and the second part is dealing with negative people -- the worst of which can be those closest to you, especially if they are part of the religion you grew up with, and you made the mistake of discussing stuff with them. I got called a liar and a heretic and everything in-between by someone I love. Lesson learned -- and you'll hear Eddie tell you this -- zip your lips. On the other hand, in reading lottery stories both in the States and in EuroMillions, people have endured ridicule, because they didn't keep it to themselves, but they obviously managed to withstand the naysayers and realize the truth of this law.

I truly feel I was led to this book today, after listening to Eddie speak on YouTube and not even knowing that this second book existed, and I've been going through thoughts of discouragement, and what I had wasn't enough at the moment.. So this has helped me immensely. I could even tell by reading the one story the exact books Melissa must have read, because I recognized her wonderful affirmations. About four months ago I, too, started writing affirmations and statements down -- just seemed a natural thing.

So, in short this book gave me encouragement and a big boost -- and that, my friend, is gold!

The greatest "down to earth" book on LAO

This is the greatest "practical" book on LOA that I have read so far, so thank you Eddie for sharing with us the real techniques behind LAO. It is easy to get lost in all the books that explains how you should think and act, but the fact is that in the end of the day you give up because you feel that LAO doesn't work for you, This book explains, with examples about real people who successfully applied LAO in their lives, that LAO works for everyone as long as you are serious and consistent about it, and if you really believe and apply in your daily life positive thinking and gratitude. And that even if it takes time to manifest, you just have to be persistent, keep believing and trust yourself. Great...just by reading all the stories in the book I got greater confidence that LAO really works. Thank you again for this great book, the work you have put in it and that you share it with all of us.

Another Winner from Eddie Coronado

This is another helpful book from author and lottery winner Eddie Coronado.

I've been following the suggestions I gleaned from his first book for about 5 months and this stuff REALLY WORKS if you are consistent in your efforts. I have had more opportunities of various kinds come my way in the past few months, than I have in a LONG time, before that. This also includes winning consistently more $$ on tickets I've bought and other prizes too.

If you are in need of some encouragement or direction how to make the LOA really work in your own life, this is definitely a worthwhile book to check out.

I'm taking off 1 star as I would have enjoyed reading a few more true life examples of lottery winners, being included. I did enjoy Eddie's first book more as it's very in-depth and I continue to re-read parts of it, when I'm in need of a "boost" to keep myself on track with affirmations, visualizations etc...both books are well worth the small amount that the eBooks cost and the rewards can be huge and long-term too!

John Berger praised the work for its ability to, "take us right inside a revolutionary moment... Yet unlike most photographs of such material, these refuse all the rhetoric normally associated with such pictures: The rhetoric of violence, revolutionary heroism and the glorification of misery." Nicaragua forms an extraordinary narrative of a nation in turmoil. Starting with a powerful and chilling evocation of the Somoza regime during its decline in the late 1970s, the images trace the evolution of the popular resistance that led to the insurrection, culminating with the triumph of the Sandinista revolution in 1979. The 2008 edition includes Pictures from a Revolution, a DVD in which Meiselas returns to the scenes she originally photographed, tirelessly tracking down the subjects and interviewing them about the reality of post-revolution Nicaragua. The DVD booklet features a new interview with Meiselas in which she discusses the history of the project.
Susan Meiselas, born in Baltimore in 1948, received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and her MA from Harvard University. Her first book, the classic Carnival Strippers, was published in 1976. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Hasselblad Foundation Photography Prize (1994) and the International Center of Photography's Infinity Award (2005). Her work has been exhibited at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. A member of Magnum Photos, Meiselas was named a MacArthur Fellow in 1992. She lives in New York.

Exceptional combat photojournalism

Another photojournalist in Central America at the same time as Susan Meiselas and I told me that he and Susan would be on the same street corner at the same time shooting the same scenes, and Susan's pictures would always come out better than his. She has an innate knack for indelibly capturing the moment:
the compressed rage of a guerrilla hurling a Molotov cocktail over a barricade; the anguish and terror of a teenaged widow trundling her husband's body in a wheelbarrow while threatened by an off-camera helicopter; the grim faces of the guerrillas, triumphant but by no means finished, as they continue their war into the future. A powerful, very graphic photo essay, best read from the beginning as it starts with the mind numbing poverty under the Somoza dictatorship, through the beginnings of the uprising by kids in blue jeans and bandannas with .22's, and then as the tide turned in favor of the Sandinistas (now heavily armed by Cuba), to final victory, with the grimy, hopeless faces of Somoza's men now tied up and awaiting beatings and possible execution. A bonus feature is a DVD of Susan's return to Nicaragua, to track down and interview the people she'd photographed over a decade before. The young widow, still wearing the same earrings as in her photo with her husband's body in the wheelbarrow, wept with disappointment that the revolution had failed to achieve dreams of a better life for the working class poor. I do have to comment that the DVD started breaking up about halfway through and became impossible to play. Nonetheless, I strongly reccommend that anyone with an interest in recent third world revolutions buy this gem before it's gone.

A Beautiful book and a major photographic piece of work.

Susan Meiselas reminds me of an FSA photographer of the thirties, independent, relentless and technically proficient, she worked her way around Nicaragua, skilled in the Spanish of the area, she was in the midst of a violent revolution, in which one photographer/correspondent was coldly executed. Obviously courageous, she exposed herself to potential serious injury or death. The prints in the book are of superb quality, and what makes this book really special is the attached DVD that shows how she revisited the people and the areas she photographed many years before. The video is moving, of the impoverished revolutionaries who had hoped for a better life, of the depressed and hungry wife, of the still young former soldier, missing part of one arm, who was disillusioned and frequently wept, of the very tough Indian woman, burying a man under fire at age 14 with little or no help. This is a very, very special book. Strongly recommended for anybody interested in photography and Latin American History.

A Complete Beginner's Guide for Working with Clay

When your professor comes over the first day of class and leafs through your brand new book and says, "Where did you get this...it's a great introduction to this class!" then proceeds to tell you he knows some of the potters and works pictured...you know it's a GREAT book. From learning where clay comes from and the techniques from pinching and coiling to the wheel and sculpture, I found great tips and photos to help me along and inspire my "creations." Then came texturing, coloring and glazing and firing techniques. I've actually bought the book as a gift for Mr. Pace (from amazon.com, naturally) and his future students because I found it SO helpful.
