I loved this book, the author made it relative to everyone

The author's approach to complexity, made it all seem to come together with simplicity. I had heart surgery and was worried about taking self defense classes, with the movements provided in this book I feel safe learning and practicing. I am buying this book for Christmas presents this year.

Just the thing for the thinking person. I have carried a cane for security for 20 years and this book has shown me quite a few new tricks. Just the tips on being more aware of everything around you should help everyone. Get a cane, get the book, be secure.

Waste of Money!!!

It was a waste of money, read it in two hours, lousy graphics I couldn't follow. Money better spent on a video, with realistic movements a novice could follow. Mostly just common sense that if you don't have, you can't learn from a book. Sorry I just felt ripped off, donated it to my Combat Vets group rather than throw it way

Jane P. Mallor has taught business law at Indiana University since 1976. During that time she has received many teaching awards, including the Student Alumni Council Senior Faculty Award, the Faculty Colloquium for Excellence in Teaching, and the Amoco Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching.

A. James Barnes is Dean and Professor of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. He previously won a distinguished teaching award from Indiana University’s School of Business.

Arlen W. Langvardt, currently Associate Professor of Business Law at Indiana University, received several teaching awards and in 1989 received the Holmes/Cardozo Award from the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

About the Author
Rebecca Berry, M.S., PT, has been an active pediatric physical therapist since 1985, most recently as co-founder of Developmental Pathways for Kids, a pediatric therapy group in Redwood City, California. She received her master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Southern California. For over 16 years, she has provided evaluation and treatment for infants and children with mild to severe developmental delays. In addition to direct patient services, Rebecca has served as a coordinator of a multidisciplinary pediatric team at a major hospital and provided consultative service to schools. She has presented workshops for professionals throughout the United States.

Glenda Fuge, M.S., H.Ed, OTR, is co-founder of Developmental Pathways for Kids, a pediatric therapy group in Redwood City, California. She has a master’s degree in health education and a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. She received her occupational therapy degree from San Jose State University where she has been a clinical faculty member teaching pediatrics with an emphasis on sensory integration. Her 23-year career includes 12 years as a coordinator of pediatric therapy services in a hospital setting where she provided administrative services as well as direct patient care and consultation to families, educational programs, and health care agencies. Glenda has extensive experience lecturing both locally and internationally.

A basic summary

If you've read Dr. Fung's book, this is mainly a summary that restates his key points. If you just want the basics and you don't enjoy reading then this may be easier. I had thought this would be a guide with a little more insight so it was a disappointment for me, but it all depends on what you're looking for.
