Unexpected Fate (Hope Town), by Harper Sloan

Have you ever felt like you were living your life for a future that was predetermined? Like there was some bigger picture you just prayed you would someday see clearly? That picture has been crystal clear to me since I was old enough to recognize it for just what it was. Or I should say, recognize him for who he was. I've loved Cohen Cage since I was a small child. He's been my everything for the last twenty-two years. I've loved him through every girlfriend he's ever brought home. Through his college years and then mine. I've loved him through two deployments. And ever since the day I told him how I felt, he's acted like I'm a stranger. My name is Danielle Reid, and it's time for me to get my man. Our future is an unexpected fate, and no matter what our parents, siblings, and friends say . . . it's going to be worth every second of the fight to make it happen.

Predictable Fate
By Blushin Book Babes
Where to start? **Contains Spoilers**

I started this book having only read one HS book in the past (Axel). I liked the book at first and was drawn in. Dani and Cohens first night together was where it started to go downhill for me.

1. Dani, the innocent virgin, was apparently a porn star in another life. The surprise pregnancy after her first time every AND with a condom just made me roll my eyes. The first time when he returns after seven months of being gone I expected a love scene. Instead he has her holds her boobs together for him so he can pleasure himself followed by them having anal sex while she's 7 months pregnant. Most of the sex scenes actually repulsed me. After the book was over I felt like I really knew nothing of them as a couple other than their sexual relationship.

2. I love a good alpha male. But Axel? His character was turned into a growling, stomping, angry caveman. The scene where he refuses to let her go to her SENIOR prom after her date has arrived to pick her up is just ridiculous. And then the poor girl had to SNEAK to move her stuff out of her parents house when she's 21 years old. It was just SO over the top. I couldn't stand him by the end of the book.

3. Since when can you tell the military "Hey guys, sorry, my girlfriend is pregnant. You'll have to count me out of any further missions."??? I've never been in the military, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that.

4. This book was like the ultimate modern romance cliché. Boy and girl love each other since childhood, hold back their feelings, finally get together, the accidental pregnancy, of course the guy is thrilled, the surprise "I just bought our "family" a house, and the fairy tale wedding. It was like reading a book I've already read a million times.

5. The term Unexpected Fate was used a lot in this book. From my point of view it was completely predictable fate! He'd always liked her, she's always liked him, their families even thought they would end up together. What part was unexpected??

Hopefully the next book in this series will be better. This one just fell flat for me.

Sadly disappointed
By Natalie P
I couldn't wait for this book, only to be sad that the storyline was a copy off of all the other corps security books... I still can't figure out how these highly trained men, who can save the world, can never save there women... at least not at first... top that with the fact that Danni is a virgin porn star, and after Cohen is gone 7 months and they've only had sex one time.... he decides to re acquaint himself by having anal???? Never mind the fact the man has 4 cock rings he's jamming up there.... I mean really???? We're was the sweetness?? It was like Alpha gone bad!

Hate to be negative but this one is beyond ridiculous
By Kindle Customer
I hate that I can not think of anything redeeming but I honestly can not. Seriously juvenile, dysfunctional characters, boring, cheesy dialog, sex scenes written by a 16 year old boy that is under the influence of bad pornography, little to no story line. Skimmed to finish so I could forewarn other potential readers. Maybe it is just me and I have higher expectations but I wish I would have saved a buck and the couple hours of wasted time.
